Clive Richardson grew up in London at the dawn of the Soul Era as first Motown then Stax created their musical impact on the youth of the U.K.

He formed a fan club for Atlantic star Don Covay to launch his journalistic career, then contributed to Soul Music fanzine and was editor/publisher of Shout soul fanzine 1967-1974, leaving to become regular columnist for Black Echoes weekly newspaper in the 1970s and 80s.

Clive began in radio with pirate station JFM in 1980, moving to Solar Radio in 1984, then on to legal stations RTM, Kiss 100 fm and Millennium before returning to the licensed Solar Radio at www.solarradio.com in 2000, remaining there to this day, having also joined Maritime Radio in Greenwich on their launch in 2019.

He was label manager of Shout Records for classic soul reissues, and consultant at Fantastic Voyage Records, originating classic gospel and soul reissue, and is the author of “Soul Citizen – Tales and Travels from the Dawn of the Soul Era to the Internet Age” on Lulu.com and Amazon.
